Up one levelThe NAWWD started to develop in 2005 when a group of 44 women from 19 countries met in Saly, Senegal, and decided to form a continental network of women with disabilities in Africa. At a meeting in 2006 a draft constitution and communications policy was discussed and in 2008 a three-year action plan was developed. Support has been given throughout the process by the Secretariat of the African Decade of Persons with Disabilities (SADPD).
